About Me
My personal and professional experience has provided me with specific skills for working with those affected with mood related issues. Clients often say that they feel comfortable working with me and can share openly and easily. I provide a relaxed and welcoming space for you to be you.
My ultimate goal is to help get you to a place where you feel more confident in the way you navigate the world, to see improvements in your mood and perspectives, and overall quality of life.
What to Expect with Empowered Thought Therapy
The focus is on what matters to you. Since therapy is rarely neat and tidy, all forms of expression are welcomed and encouraged. This can mean laughing, crying, being angry, sharing your hopes, sharing your losses, and sometimes being quiet. Just come as you are.
This is how healing happens. Laughter is not unusual and I will not shut down your emotions or ideas. Expect that I will ask questions and provide information to offer you a new perspective on your situation. I will not shy away from giving you the truth with kindness.
Providing Support for the LGBTQ Community
As part of the LGBTQ community, I understand that having a safe place to speak, share hopes, aspirations, anger, life experiences, and dreams in an affirming space is the basis for a place where growth and healing can happen. Although the need for empowering connection is not unique, with your identity(s) can come unique experiences when navigating the world. Mental health symptoms and risks are high in the LGBTQ community and getting help can make a big difference.
Why Therapy is Important
Therapy is a tool that can be used to express things that have been bothering you sometimes for years, a place to vent, see new viewpoints, get professional perspectives, share hopes and losses, and learn to live in a way that we didn’t think we could achieve.
When we are overwhelmed, this affects every aspect of our lives. This can include mood, relationships, self-image, physical health, ability to concentrate, sleep, appetite, and memory. Thinking of the time and effort in therapy may seem like one more thing on your already busy plate.
In reality, investing in yourself may prove to have long-term benefits for your overall mental and physical well-being.
